School Project Objectives
- Tanapag Middle School I (Team under Mrs. Beatrice Fatialofa)
- Hold a school-wide marine debris art contest where the winning design will be made into reuseable bags.
- All TMS homeroom classes will use cloth bags to get snack and we will have distributed at least 25 cloth bags to the community.
- Plant least 4 trees on school campus to address environmental issues:
- Keeps soil in place
- Reduces erosion
- Cleans the atmosphere by reducing carbon dioxide
- Produced stickers to promote awareness about marine debris and climate change
- Tanapag Middle School II (Team under Ms. Marseli Frank)
- Spread awareness about marine debris to youth by placing postes around campus
- Conducting a student survey on campus about the effects of marine debris on the environment
- Hold 2 beach clean-ups
- Mount Carmel School I (Team under Mrs. Luz Baldazo)
- Hosted beach clean-ups
- Collected biodegradable materials at school, from student homes, beach clean-ups and various establisments
- Held school presentations on the importance of our marine environment in the classrooms
- Build a compost bin in the school's garden
- Created compost using the collected biodegradable materials
- Mount Carmel School II (Team under Mrs. Eva Villar)
- Hosted beach clean-ups
- Collected non-biodegradable materials from clean-ups, school, and various places in the community
- Conducted outreach to the middle and elementary school classroom on marine debris
- DanDan Middle School I & II (Teams under Ms. Judith Castro & Ms. Angela Pinaula)
- Held beach clean-ups
- Promote marine debris awareness on campus
- Calculated collected plastic water bottle within a span of 2 weeks
- Re-purposed the plastic bottles into a variety of items
- Hopwood Middle School I (Team under Mrs. Marilyn Mendoza)
- Reduce runoff by creating flower beds at various locations on campus
- Hopwood Middle School II (Team under Ms. Esco Hocog)
- Designated a drop off area for plastic bottles
- Raise awareness through presentations
- Participate in island/beach clean-ups
- Re-purposed collected plastic botles into flower pots
- Hopwood Middle School III (Team under Ms. Joan Bahillo)
- Conserve marine habits by recycling water bottles and used tires in school
- Placing rain catchment systems (through planter boxes) on campus
- Reduce the use of plastic food containers in school
- Promote the use of reusable trays
- Hopwood Middle School IV (Team under Ms. Riya Nathrani)
- Lessen the amount of marine debris present in our beaches
- Spread awareness about the dangers of marine debris and how we can stop it through class presentations
- Assessed their knowledge through a pre and post test of the class presentation
- Educate our peers about the dangers of littering because of potential bigger problems that will arise
- Distributed reusable items to students to lessen the amount of plastic bottles used by students
- Distributed reusable MINA grocery bags from Joeten so studnets can use them when shopping
