MINA is a community - based, nonprofit organization, formed by a group of people dedicated to the conservation of the natural resources of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).

We believe that the CNMI has unique and beautiful natural resources, but this natural heritage is at risk of continued degradation. We feel that community involvement in conservation and management is the only way to achieve long-term preservation of our resources, and that non-government organizations can mobilize this involvement. Therefore, we have formed a community-based group dedicated to biodiversity conservation in the CNMI.

Please explore these pages further to find out more about MINA’s mission and to contact us for more information about how you can get involved.

Third Installment of First Friday Films: Dirt!

It's once again time for us to meet at the American Memorial Park Visitor's Center to enjoy September's First Friday Film Dirt!

Think that dirt is simply the brown or black stuff stuck to the bottom of your sandals on a rainy day?  Think again because dirt is so much more that that; "We depend on dirt to purify and heal the systems that sustains us."

Join us tomorrow night, September 03, 2010 at 6:30 PM to watch the documentary that won four awards, including the official selection of the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, Dirt!

We hope to see you there!

For more information check out the First Friday Film on Blogspot or watch the official trailer!
